Stop…Think…Reset

During these difficult times, it’s hard to take a moment and reset. There is so much going on with the world and with so much of it feeling negative, it can feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Whether it’s with work, or family life or just life in general. Everyone is going through their own difficulties and we can get so tied up in them we don’t stop to think about anyone else.

I like to use the stop…think…reset quite often throughout the day. Just taking that 20-30 seconds(maybe even longer if you need it) to just take a deep breath and pretend you’re pressing you’re own reset button.

Another way to reset is to journal. I’ll be honest I never thought it would have any impact on me. It sounded too simple and I have tried it in the past but this time I said to myself I was going to give it a chance and change my perception of it.
I’ve only been journaling for a couple of weeks now, but I can’t tell you the difference it has made to my day. I dedicate between 5-10 minuets every night to writing down how I’ve felt about my day and really focusing on practicing gratitude.

In November 2020 I joined up to TJF coaching and was set up on a nutrition plan. I was struggling a lot with the gyms being closed and lockdown pressures we’ve all been through and I can tell you something. It has changed my outlook on life so much I can’t really put it into words. I will write about my experience being coached by Courtney in another article because I want to dedicate a separate article to it. But one of the things I was asked was am I practicing daily gratitude. I’ll be honest my thought was yeah if I get time, and as I read that back now I think wow I can’t believe that thought even came into my mind.

So I gave myself a little pep talk and sorted it out, and it has made such a big difference to my day and my outlook on life. I am very fortunate to have a lot of things in life, whereas others may not. I do think about that a lot and I know I’m grateful but taking the time out to actually write about it is a whole other thing. Not only do you appreciate everything you have but it makes you want to do more for everyone else.

I love going to bed now because I know before I do I get that time to myself to reflect and it really does send me to bed with a smile on my face. I would recommend to anyone to journal and write a few things you’re grateful for every night as it will really change your outlook on life.
